Queers & Gears
This logo design, along with the supporting deliverables, stands as my involvement in the 2024 Designathon held at Pennsylvania College of Art & Design. Serving as a platform for creative collaboration, the event brought together diverse minds to tackle requests from non-profit organizations. Amidst this atmosphere of innovation and purpose, I dedicated my skills and passion to crafting a compelling and impactful logo, ensuring that it resonated with the mission and values of the participating organization. This contribution not only showcases my bold style, but also underscores the power of driving positive change within each of our communities.
During the Designathon, The Common Wheel, a local business rooted in the community, presented their ambitious initiative to establish Lancaster’s first gear library. They’ve joined forces with the Hellbender’s Collective, a respected affinity group within the LGBTQ+ community devoted to fostering outdoor access and inclusivity for all. Together, their mission was clear: to bridge gaps, break barriers, and empower individuals of all backgrounds to explore the great outdoors.
As I immersed myself in the task of crafting the logo design, I approached it with a sense of humility and purpose, understanding the weight of the cause it represented. I sought to capture not only the visual identity but also the spirit of unity and progress embodied by this collaboration. It was an opportunity to contribute to something larger than myself, to lend a voice to the values of community, diversity, and outdoor empowerment that lie at the heart of this endeavor.
